Changing Plans as an Existing T-Mobile Prepaid Customer

Already have a T-Mobile Prepaid account? You can switch to a Connect by T-Mobile UNL Talk & Text plan. If Connect by T-Mobile isn’t available as a plan option for you, you might need to migrate your existing account.

Migrating Your Account to Connect by T-Mobile Prepaid

If you’re migrating your T-Mobile account to Connect by T-Mobile, here’s what you need to get started:

Requirements:

  • A new SIM card (a cost is associated).
  • Your current T-Mobile SIM card (it won’t work with the new service, but you can keep your existing number).
  • The mobile number you wish to migrate.
  • Your existing T-Mobile account number and PIN/Passcode.
  • A secondary email address (different from the one associated with your current T-Mobile account).

Important Considerations:

  • Some benefits like Device Protection and Netflix On Us are not available for Connect by T-Mobile.
  • Promotions, discounts, and certain services will be lost and may not be available if you revert back.
  • Outstanding service balances will become immediately due.
  • Voicemail accounts will be reset, and unsaved voicemails will be lost.
  • Your account tenure will reset, potentially affecting eligibility for certain programs.

Steps to Migrate:

  1. Visit T-Mobile Prepaid Home.
  2. Select “Shop.”
  3. Choose “Bring Your Own Device” to use your current phone or Contact Us to purchase a new device.
  4. Enter your ZIP code and click “Continue.”
  5. Check your device’s compatibility in the Check IMEI section or select “Skip.”
  6. In the SIM card activation section, select “I need to buy a T-Mobile SIM card” (your current SIM won’t work).
  7. Choose “New Customer” when asked if you are an existing customer. You’re creating a new Prepaid account to transfer your existing number.
  8. In the Product Selection, select the “Connect by T-Mobile” plan and proceed to Cart.
  9. Verify your SIM card and plan selection, then click “Check Out.”
  10. Sign Up with your new account info: Email (different from your existing T-Mobile account), 4-digit PIN, name, and address.
  11. Enter your existing T-Mobile account details: mobile number, account number, and PIN/Passcode.
  12. Complete the emergency address e911 information and add an email for shipping notifications.
  13. Enter your payment information and agree to the terms and conditions.
  14. Review your order and click “Accept & Place Order.”

You will receive a confirmation message once your order is placed. It typically takes 2-4 hours to transfer your existing number to the new SIM card.
